I'm a professor and researcher in environmental biotechnology currently working on bioprocess engineering and renewable energy systems. I previously did research at various institutions working with microbial communities and bioconversion processes. My work focuses on developing sustainable biotechnological solutions for waste management and bioenergy production.
My research encompasses several key areas including anaerobic digestion for biogas production, fermentative processes for biofuel generation, and microbial fuel cell technologies. I have extensive experience in studying microbial community dynamics and metabolic pathways, particularly in the context of converting organic waste materials into valuable products like methane, hydrogen, and various carboxylic acids.
Much of my recent work involves optimizing bioprocesses for medium-chain carboxylic acid production, investigating novel pretreatment strategies for lignocellulosic biomass, and developing integrated biorefinery systems. I'm particularly interested in the intersection of environmental sustainability and biotechnology, focusing on how microbial systems can be engineered to address waste management challenges while simultaneously producing renewable energy and biochemicals.
